Frequently Asked Questions
It starts in the soil. Our regeneratively grown organic hemp strains are selected for their unique properties, interact with our Maryland micro-climate, and then are harvested by hand. Each strain is sun-grown, harvested by hand, processed separately in small batches, and then formulated to preserve as many terpenes and cannabinoids as possible.
Terpenes! Terpenes are the largest and most diverse group of naturally occurring compounds on the planet and are found in both plants and animals. They contribute to the fragrance, taste, and color of plants. In hemp (and its cousin hops), terpenes are an expression of the whole plant, quality and freshness. Terpenes are at the root of many modern pharmaceuticals, including steroids and retinol. The hemp or cannabis sativa plant is a rich carrier of terpenes.
Acknowledge formulates with different strains of CBD rich hemp extract. The cannabinoids, terpenes, and fats from the hemp plant give the tincture its color. Most CBD products use distillate or isolate, which are processed after extraction and strip the terpenes and healthy fats from the extract.
Transparency is one of our guiding principles. As a farm producer, we are intimately involved at every step of the process and have rigorous testing protocols in place. Our products are triple-lab-tested to quantify the good (cannabinoids, terpenes) and for absence of the bad (like metals, molds). Every bottle has an up-to-date Certificate of Analysis (COA) ensuring that the concentration in the bottle matches what is on the label. We pay for more comprehensive testing so that you can be confident about what you are putting in your body.
Dosing is still an open question. However, researchers have determined that regular, frequent consumption means your body and its endocannabinoid system retains a higher overall bioavailability (which supports the idea of daily dosing). Large doses have been tested and are well tolerated (even up to 6000mgs daily!). They’ve also discovered that it’s best to consume CBD with a “fatty meal.” Since cannabinoids are lipophilic (aka fat-loving), they can hitch a ride with food through your metabolism.
Bioavailability is enhanced when CBD is combined with a long-chain fatty acid, such as safflower or grape seed oil. You’ve likely seen MCT oil used in other products. MCT oil is a medium-chain fatty acid. We chose safflower to support better absorption. In addition, safflowers thrive in ecosystems like ours, are grown domestically in the US, are attractive to local pollinators and beneficial insects, and are low allergenic so it’s a win-win for both quality products and sustainability.
Everyone’s bodies are unique ecosystems, and you will likely feel differently with different strains and strengths. The major cannabinoids present in our products are cannabidiol (CBD), cannabidiolic acid (CBDA), and cannabidivarin (CBDV). These cannabinoids support your overall health and homeostasis through the endocannabinoid system. These cannabinoids and terpenes also interact with receptors that govern mood, pain, energy, and muscle control. You will not feel “high.” If you do feel reward-like sensations, it's likely due to your body recognizing that you did something nice for yourself, akin to those moments after meditation or a relaxing bath.
As always, talk with your doctor before adding anything to your regimen. Contraindications with CBD is an active area of research, but so far there have not been any definitive conclusions.
Our products are formulated for human bodies, but we’ve heard a few pet success stories from family & friends!

Drug screenings test for a metabolite of THC. All our products are well below the legal threshold of THC, however because we use the whole plant and practice low/no-intervention, there are trace amounts as you can see in our COAs. Additionally, the WHO concluded there is no evidence of tolerance or dependence when it comes to CBD.
