What Does Pure CBD Oil Look Like? What Do Broad-Spectrum CBD and Full-Spectrum CBD Oil Look Like?

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. “Pure CBD” is CBD isolate — there’s nothing else in it. No oils, no terpenes, no THC, no flavonoids, no nothing … zilch.

If you come across “pure CBD oils” on the internet or in a CBD shop, it’s not 100% pure. That’s because even if it’s CBD isolate products, it’s mixed or carried in an oil. Therefore, it’s not just CBD, so you can’t really call it pure.

Now, that’s splitting hairs — we get it. But we’re sticklers for being transparent. And we recognize that by “pure,” most people mean, “there’s no bad stuff in this, right?”

In this case, there are some general rules of thumb you can use to quickly identify the different types of CBD and whether you’re dealing with a quality product.

First, the more concentrated the oil, the darker it’ll be. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean an oil is more “pure” if it’s lighter in color. It just likely means there’s less CBD packed into each mL of carrier oil.

Usually, full-spectrum CBD oil is on the darker side. That’s also because full-spectrum CBD comes with a ton of other special compounds like trace amounts of THC, terpenes, flavonoids, and more. There’s more “stuff” in it — and that “stuff” is what helps unleash the full potential of the entourage effect. Broad-Spectrum CBD oil should have a similar look as well.

Second, check the weight AND volume to calculate potency. The more potent it is, the more likely it is to be darker in color. And by weight, we mean milligrams of CBD. By volume, we mean milliliters of oil.

There are 100 mL bottles of 1000 mg CBD. There are 50 mL bottles of 1500 mg. You can also find 200 mL bottles of 3000 mg CBD. So on and so on.

Keep in mind that in this case, mg measures how much CBD is in the whole bottle. And mL measures the size of the whole bottle. As the size of the bottle goes down and the amount of CBD goes up, the stronger the potency.

How To Know CBD Quality

There are a few ways to know “how good” or “how bad” CBD is. The first … research the brand that makes it. Check for things like a solid reputation, positive online reviews, and so on. If a brand is highly rated, there’s a greater-than-zero chance its products are, too.

Second, review the COAs — certificates of analysis. These are also called lab results or third-party lab reports. And they’re documents that outline the chemical makeup of a product. They’re an absolute MUST before you buy. If a brand doesn’t list lab results for their products … do not buy those products.

Third, buy organic if at all possible. Organic CBD products are way less likely to contain harmful chemicals like pesticides, and that’s because they have to meet certain criteria before they can even earn the organic badge of honor.

In short, if you want quality, buy organic CBD products from trustworthy brands that make their COAs easy to find. That should cut out most, if not all, of the not-so-great CBD products out there.

What Is The Most Trusted CBD Brand?

There’s a new CBD brand on the market every time we turn around. It’s tough to know which brands are quality and which ones aren’t. And new brands take time to build reputations, even if they’re “better” than companies that have been around for a while.

We can’t tell you whether or not you should trust other CBD brands. But we can absolutely tell you why you should trust us…
